Van Hessen in past years
Alfred Van Hessen, from Groningen in The Netherlands, crossed the ocean at a young age to establish a career in the United States. He focused on the sale of office and invoicing systems.
A. van Hessen & Co
In 1919, he once again set foot in The Netherlands. And set foot in the Dutch business world for the first time: 'A. van Hessen & Co' became an established company.
From the very start, Van Hessen sold cash registers and typewriters. First in Rotterdam, later in franchises in Amsterdam and Den Haag.
American software
1979 proved to be a key year for the company. Van Hessen changed ownership and came into contact with a new company: Micros Inc. Their electronic calculation systems unleashed a revolution in the American HoReCa industry.
The system communicated with other areas, such as Property Management Systems.
Van Hessen worked for a year on 'translating' this system for the European market. And in 1980 it arrived: together with Micros, Van Hessen introduced HoReCa automation in the Benelux countries.
Growth
Restaurants and hotels quickly discovered the advantages of integrated software systems. There was further growth for the company and a move to new offices.
Today, the headquarters are based in Ridderkerk (NL) and Boortmeerbeek (BE). Approximately one hundred staff members ensure fast installation and support for your HoReCa systems. In Benelux countries and in West Africa.
