About La Maison Palmier

La Maison Palmier is the first boutique hotel in West Africa affiliated with Design Hotels. Located in the neighborhood of II Plateaux, Cocody the hotel has everything to meet the guests needs, and provide service with a personal touch. The contemporary design and interior style are met with a most friendly hospitality.

‘We take care of our guests and make them feel at home’, Mrs. Nathalie Diouf, General Manager of La Maison Palmier states. ‘We offer a 5-star experience in a comfortable and serene setting with local, custom-made furnishings and interior design. It gives it a personal touch. And in our restaurant our Chef du Cuisine prepares culinary delights with fresh, seasonal and home-grown ingredients. Therefore, it’s a joy to dine here.’

Using Oracle Hospitality OPERA PMS and Oracle MICROS Simphony POS

La Maison Palmier opened in June 2022, starting off with a different software supplier. During the summer the management decided to switch to Van Hessen’s solutions. Because, there was a need for a more professional and flexible approach in order to manage the challenging layout of La Maison Palmier.

The property is located on 5000 m² of land and the rooms and outlets are spread over 9 different buildings. Distances can be challenging to keep up the service levels.

‘We need a smart system that allows us to work effectively and fits the specific situations. We use different working methods throughout the hotel. Like mobile devices in the restaurant and remotely sent housekeeping updates. Just what fits the circumstances.’

Staff was hired straight from hotel school and from other hotels using the Oracle Hospitality OPERA PMS and Oracle MICROS Simphony POS. When a team is already familiar with the systems, it makes it much easier to train them. And the software empowers the staff so they can give full service to the guests.

According to Nathalie Diouf: ‘Oracle Hospitality OPERA PMS and Oracle MICROS Simphony POS are my preferred tools for managing all aspects of the hotel business. I got acquainted with the system in the hotel school in Switzerland and have been using it since. I remember working as a Sales & Marketing director in a hotel with 66 conference rooms. I don’t know how we could have managed without OPERA.’

The software has evolved over the years and it fits all sizes of hotels and any kind of operations. Nathalie Diouf likes the fact that you can adapt the systems to any situation. ‘You make a list of needs and wishes for your hotel and operations, and the software is set up in such way that its most efficient for the team, beneficial for the guests and that you get smart reporting for the management.’

‘Working with Van Hessen has always been good. And this time we were still finetuning the hotel while implementing the software. We were happy to rely on them. The responsiveness is fast and the support team is 24/7 available when we need assistance. The care and support of Van Hessen is an important reason for choosing to work with them. For us, service needs to be steady, even if we have less urgent questions.’

Nathalie Diouf finds the human touch important. Van Hessen thinks along when giving remote support and were flexible when installing Oracle MICROS Simphony POS on site. Especially when the guest service gets busy, Van Hessen adapted to the operational dynamics.

For La Maison Palmier future development and staying ahead their game is crucial. Van Hessen keeps them up to date on software and IT-developments. ‘This way we are aware of new possibilities and features in the software. Even if we don’t buy or implement it just yet, we like to know what’s happening in the technological hospitality world’, says Mrs. Diouf.
