The elegant Liman Hotel is situated near the beautiful Botanique park at the heart of Brussels. With its warm and inviting ambiance, it adds a distinctive charm to this upcoming, increasingly popular district of the city.

The Liman hotel is family owned and named in honor of Mr. Orhan Liman. Guests can stay in one of the 74 stylish hotel rooms, indulge in culinary delights at the vibrant Mediterranean Restaurant ZEYYA, enjoy a drink in the lounge bar or organize a meeting or event at the hotel. Soon, guests will be able to relish a breathtaking view on the famous Atomium from the rooftop terrace.

We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Matthias Morel, Front Office Manager and Mr. Laurent Dessart, F&B Manager of The Liman Hotel, as we looked back on the hotel opening in December 2024.

Van Hessen proved to be a trustworthy partner

‘We have been working with Van Hessen since July 2024. It was our intent to implement Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud PMS and Oracle MICROS Simphony POS, and Van Hessen serves as the Oracle Hospitality and Oracle Restaurant partner for the Belgium region’, Matthias Morel explains. ‘I work with OPERA Cloud on a daily base and it’s one of the best PMS systems around and very complete. OPERA connects with all the integrations we need. And it’s one of the most popular PMS, which makes it easier to find staff with knowledge of the system.’

Mr. Laurent Dessart indicates that although he worked with various POS systems in the past, he absolutely enjoys the functionality of Simphony POS. ‘It’s an excellent POS solution. The integration between the different systems is flawlessly, which saves time that we can spend on our service. In the initial phase, we encountered an issue with Symphony. The Van Hessen team responded very quickly, and the matter was solved immediately.

‘A hotel opening presents its challenges, and installing PMS and POS software was a new experience for us. Having a single supplier for both F&B and Room Division eases the process considerably. Van Hessen advised and assisted us all the way’, Matthias Morel adds.

‘Our opening was slightly delayed, but Van Hessen showed great understanding. They were flexible and rearranged the training schedule. Ultimately the hotel opening was successful, and we made great start. We needed some adjustments in the system after opening, but Van Hessen was very responsive and resolved it within 24 hours.’

Looking to the future, Mr. Liman foresees growth, as he is already thinking of developing the next hotel project. With the multi-property functionality of OPERA Cloud PMS and Simphony POS, we’re considering implementing these solutions there as well.
